Mains-Fed Water Cooler FAQ
- Q1: How does a mains-fed water dispenser work?
- The water is first taken from the mains supply by an installed water line which is fed into the dispenser.
It is then filtered through an advanced filtration system.
The water is then purified and is then either chilled or boiled for use.
- Q2: Can mains-fed water dispensers be sited anywhere?
- A mains-fed water dispenser can be sited anywhere as long as a power supply is available and water supply is within EPDWA regulation range (see Q3).
- Q3: How far can mains-fed water dispensers be from the water supply?
- According to EPDWA guidelines, a mains-fed water dispenser should not be installed further than 20 metres (approx. 65 feet) away from a water supply.
The problem with siting a machine further away, is that the pressure for the water drops and makes the speed of dispensing slower.
- Q4: How long does it take to install a mains-fed water dispenser?
- On average, a Tami4 engineer will need approximately 40 minutes to fully install a water dispenser.
Some dispensers may take longer where additional work is required.
- Q5: Can I have a water dispenser relocated?
- Water dispensers can be relocated to other rooms or buildings.
However a charge will be made for the engineers’ time. This charge will vary depending on distance and time of relocation.
- Q6: I only have a small space - do you have a machine to cope?
- Tana Water’s Tami4 range comprises many different water dispensers so that all circumstances are covered.
The smallest water dispenser is the T6 which is:- H -35 cm x W – 29.5 x D 36cm
- Q7: Does a mains-fed water dispenser use a lot of electricity?
- All Tami4 mains-fed water dispensers are fitted with a computer processor that allows the “Energy Saving” feature to be activated. “Energy Saving” allows the dispenser to drop to a low power usage after approx. 1 hour of inactivity.
Once the dispense button is pressed the dispenser will return to normal power levels, and temperatures in the dispenser’s tanks will be fully recovered within 4 minutes.
During the sleep mode period the ultra violet lamp is activated periodically to avoid any danger of bacterial growth.
- Q8: How does a mains-fed water dispenser filter and purify the water?
- The Tami4 water dispensers use a combination of sub 0.5 micron filtration and ultraviolet light treatment in a 3 stage filtration process.
The water passes through a sediment filter, an activated block carbon filter and a 0.5 micron filter. This filter removes chlorine; rust; cryptosporidium cysts; volatile organic compounds; and helps to reduce limescale. The purification process leaves the water free of bad tastes and odours.
Finally, an Ultra Violet lamp kills 99.9% of bacteria and inactivates many viruses. Tami4’s 11 Watt UV lamps have the benefit of killing pathogens, without adding any chemicals to the water.
The result is great tasting water that can be chilled or boiled.
- Q9: Can I make tea or coffee with the water dispenser?
- The hot button on Tami4 dispensers is perfect for making coffee and our unique extra hot button boosts the temperature further to ensure that the hot water is perfect for making tea.
